From The City of Watsonville: The City of Watsonville Parks and Community Services Department is proud to present the annual Spirit of Watsonville 4th of July Parade on July 4, 2018 beginning at 12:00p.m. The parade proceeds down Main Street from St. Patrick’s Church to First Street. This community event draws thousands of spectators annually.

This year’s parade is significant, as the City is celebrating its 150th anniversary of incorporation with a year-full of commemorative events. Parade participants are encouraged to select a time period in Watsonville’s history to theme their entry to the parade. The City of Watsonville is celebrating this historical anniversary along with two prominent community businesses: S. Martinelli & Company and Watsonville Register Pajaronian. In honor of their sesquicentennial anniversary and their significant contributions to our community throughout the years, the 2018 Parade Grand Marshalls are John Martinelli, CEO of S. Martinelli & Company and Jeanie Johnson, Publisher of the Watsonville Register Pajaronian. The City remains grateful for the on-going support and partnership that both S. Martinelli & Co. and the Register Pajaronian have provided to the City during the celebration of our sesquicentennial anniversary. Their invaluable contributions have assisted in highlighting Watsonville’s rich history for the benefit of the entire community. This historical point in time has allowed our community to pause, look back, honor and celebrate where we are today. It has also allowed our community to gain perspective of our rich history and what we would like to see in the future.

Mayor Lowell Hurst stated “As we celebrate our historic 4th of July holiday, let us also remember our Sesquicentennial beginnings and our 150 year old business partners, the Martinelli Company and the Register-Pajaronian who stand with us proudly in this historic year of our mutual founding.” Both Jeanie and John are committed to continue to serve the Watsonville Community and exemplify our community’s roots, values and spirit.
