Transient Arrested In Connection With Watsonville Stabbing
Police said Mario Padilla also stole the victim's bike.

WATSONVILLE, CA — A 37-year-old transient was arrested Thursday on suspicion of stabbing another man earlier this month, according to police. Officers arrested Mario Padilla after he attempted to run away from them as they were trying to arrest him. Padilla was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and robbery.
On Nov. 19, a man arrived at the Watsonville Police Department seeking assistance with a stab wound. He collapsed but was given first aid by officers and first responders before being taken to a hospital. Police said an investigation determined that the victim knew Padilla and that Padilla had stabbed him that day at the Pajaro River Levee in the area of East Front Street and Main Street.
Padilla, who was also with other men at the time of the stabbing, also stole the victim's bike. Padilla was spotted around 12:20 p.m. today at the levee west of Sakata Lane where he attempted to flee but was captured.
