Watsonville Brothers Open Downtown Pizza Joint At Fox Theater

Slice Project is operated by a pair of Watsonville-raised brothers with passions for business and cooking.

WATSONVILLE, CA — Two brothers, Watsonville-born and raised, have collaborated to open a new pizzeria and taproom in downtown Watsonville.

Slice Project serves up Detroit-style square pizzas and New York-style slices, according to the business website. The menu includes classics such as cheese, pepperoni and veggie, but also offers up a White Bugatti pizza, featuring white sauce and lemon zest.

Local and regional craft brews, and Mexican imports are on tap. The store features an arcade machine.

Slice Project is located at the site of the old Fox Theater, where Fox Pizza and Grill once sat, Edible Monterey Bay wrote. Kristian Sencion, 31, oversees the kitchen while brother Brando Sencion, 26, manages business operations.

“We spent all our childhood and adult lives here and we couldn’t imagine opening anywhere else,” Brando Sencion told Edible Monterey Bay.

Chef Kristian Sencion has worked in Santa Cruz Boardwalk and fine dining restaurants, but for the past four years he's sold baked goods such as cinnamon rolls, donuts and baked goods at Ninogordough, according to the Slice Project website.

His cinnamon rolls are sometimes up for sale at Slice Project.

Director of Restaurant Operations Brando Sencion studied political science at University of California, Santa Barbara and has a background in local nonprofit work, according to the website.

Visit Slice Project at 300 Main St. Wednesday through Saturday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
