Watsonville City Council: Election Results
The Watsonville City Council will see a shakeup as two incumbents hit their term limits.

WATSONVILLE, CA — The polls have closed voters have cast their ballots in three Watsonville City Council races in districts 1, 2 and 6.
District 1
Former Watsonville mayor and councilmember Eduardo Montesino is making another run to serve the southern region of Watsonville on the council. He is running unopposed to replace Felipe Hernandez, who is hitting his term limit.

Montesino had received 100% of the vote (1,079 votes) with all precincts reported.

District 2
Incumbent Aurelio Gonzalez appeared poised to retain his seat as of Wednesday morning. He was fending off a challenge from adjunct professor Vanessa Quiroz-Carter in the race to represent the southeast Watsonville area.

Gonzalez was leading with 56% of the vote (670 votes), with all precincts reporting. Quiroz-Carter received 44% of the vote, or 532 votes.
District 6
Teacher Jimmy Dutra appeared to be headed to the schools board to represent the district encompassing the northern end of central Watsonville as of Wednesday morning.
He faced a challenge from community volunteer Tony Gomez.

Dutra maintained his lead throughout the night and received 64% of the vote (1,314 votes), with all precincts reported. Gomez received 36% of the vote (737 votes).
Incumbent Trina Coffman-Gomez is hitting her term limit.
