Watsonville Resident Appointed to Water Board

Paul Faurot is a retired firefighter and local farmer. He will serve on the Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency.

The Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency appointed local farmer and retired Watsonville firefighter Paul Faurot to the board. 

Faurot will represent District D, which includes portions of Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito counties, according to a news release. 

“I hope to bring a fresh viewpoint and common sense approach to managing our very valuable water resources,” Faurot said in the release.

He will jump into the role starting with the board's May meeting. 

Faurot was born and raised in Watsonville, in the Royal Oaks area.

He began farming raspberries on two acres with his father 35 years ago and now farms just over 100 acres of baby vegetables and lettuces, according to the release. 

“I left in the early eighties to continue a career as a Watsonville Firefighter but can proudly say that two years ago I returned to the family farm.”

Faurot was appointed during the April 17 meeting, through a unanimous vote.
