Watsonville Shooting: Bakersfield Man Charged

A man was shot multiple times in a parking lot, police said.

WATSONVILLE, CA — A Bakersfield man was charged with a February shooting in Watsonville, police announced.

Edgar P. Patino, 31, was arrested Friday in Bakersfield on suspicion of attempted murder, according to Watsonville police and jail records. Patino has been charged with attempted murder and four enhancements, which can be tacked onto a charge to increase a punishment.

An attorney representing Patino did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Patino was identified as a suspect soon after he allegedly shot a 24-year-old man multiple times Feb. 28 in a parking lot along the 300 block of Bree Lane, police said. That man has recovered from his injuries.

Police traveled to Bakersfield to arrest Patino and extradited him to Santa Cruz County, where he was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail Saturday. Patino remained in jail as of Thursday.
