4 Best Things to do in Los Angeles during a Pandemic
Don't cancel your Airbnb! Come to Los Angeles and enjoy it like a local - avoiding the crowds and living the la la land life.
With all the turmoil surrounding COVID-19, we're all wondering... "What's Next?" Well speaking as an Airbnb host myself (you can see my listing for our guest loft here), I can attest to the fact that if you want to get the heck out of dodge but you don't know how you can possibly do that and still stay safe, a road trip to sunny Los Angeles might just cure your pandemic blues. Visit L.A. like a local and enjoy the best that L.A. has to offer. Angelenos are VERY comfortable with social distancing - after all, we invented the air kiss.
Every Angeleno has their favorite local spots that we pick not only because they are good, but because they have yet to be discovered. Read on for how you can enjoy Los Angeles like a local during a pandemic.

1. Take a Hike to see the Hollywood Sign
Find out what's happening in West Hollywoodfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
A Bronson Canyon hike is a great activity to share with kids, or kids at heart. At its base is a playground and picnic area and on the hike you will find lots of recognizable movie locations and even Batman’s Cave from the 1960’s Batman TV series! If you're up for a more challenging hike, you can continue on the Hollyridge trail and get pretty close to the Hollywood sign.

West Trail Loop is another easy kid-friendly hike that incorporates views of the city, the Griffith Park Observatory, and the Hollywood sign. You start off in a playground with a great little cafe lunch spot called The Trails Cafe and then head out for a 1-mile hike.

Brush Canyon Trail is peaceful and quiet and full of great views of Los Angeles. This is supposed to be the hike to go on to get a great view of the back of the Hollywood sign.

2. Drive Historic Route 66 to the Beach
Just 2.5 blocks from our guest loft is Santa Monica Blvd. the historic end of Route 66. Take a drive down Route 66 down to the beach and take in the sights along the way including West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Century City, West Los Angeles and Santa Monica.

Take a walk along the shore in Santa Monica any time of year. If it's chilly, bring a blanket and a thermos of something steamy to sip as you sit in the sand and enjoy the calming, cleansing energy of the ocean.

4. Embrace L.A.'s Health Food Scene
Visit Pressed Juicery, my personal favorite spot for pressed juices. There are multiple locations in Los Angeles, but the easiest I've found to get to is the one on Santa Monica Blvd. in Los Angeles. There's free parking in the back! 8714 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, California, USA, 90069
Check out the original health food trend of those in the know in Hollywood, Beverly Hills Juice Club (it's been around since 1975!). My favorite things to order are the apple-lemon-ginger juice and the banana mana shakes.

Erewhon Market is the spot to shop for all your health food needs. Pick up some healthy snacks and enjoy alfresco dining. Be ready to spend some money though. This is a fancy grocery store.

Pick up your macrobiotic meal at M Cafe de Chaya on Melrose and bring it back to your cosy spot. Don't know what macrobiotic food is? Me either. I just know its tasty and it's been all the rage with the Hollywood elite for a while.
Remember, it never rains in Southern California, so when it comes to alfresco living, the dream is real. You can walk into just about any grocery store, grab something fresh and healthy and head back to your airbnb for a lazy 75 degree afternoon in front of the big screen TV, la la land style. No need to interact with anyone at all.
