Street Closures and Celebrity Guests at AIDS Walk This Sunday
The largest AIDS fundraising event in the country kicks off in West Hollywood Park at 9:15 a.m. Expect traffic and some familiar faces.

About 30,000 participants are expected to make their way to West Hollywood for the AIDS Walk L.A. on Sunday. The 6.2-mile route will kick off in at 9:15 a.m., with the walk beginning at 10 a.m.
The money raised by AIDS Walk L.A. benefits the AIDS Project Los Angeles and other AIDS service organizations across Los Angeles County. Last year, the event raised nearly $3 million, according to an APLA media alert.
West Hollywood Mayor John J. Duran will speak about the current HIV/AIDS crisis in LA County and the vital work of lead beneficiary APLA alongside Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

Other special guests include Drew Carey (The Price Is Right), Conchata Ferrell (Two and a Half Men), Dot Marie Jones (Glee), Cloris Leachman (Raising Hope), Pauley Perrette (NCIS), and Louis Van Amstel (Dancing with the Stars).
Half of all new HIV infections in the U.S. occur in people 25 years old or younger, according to the city. In the United States, of those infected with HIV each year is unaware of his or her status. Every nine and a half minutes, someone in the United States is infected with HIV.

There will be street and traffic closures in the City of West Hollywood on the following streets:
- San Vicente Boulevard from Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose will be closed from Saturday at 6 a.m. until Sunday at 6 p.m.
- San Vicente Boulevard from Cynthia Street to Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed Sunday from 12 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Robertson Boulevard from Melrose Avenue to Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- La Peer Drive from Melrose Avenue to Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Santa Monica Boulevard from Doheny Drive to Hollway Drive will be closed on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- La Cienega Boulevard from Santa Monica Boulevard to Melrose Avenue will be closed on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Melrose Place from La Cienega to Orlando Avenue will be closed on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Melrose Avenue from La Cienega Boulevard to La Brea Drive will be closed on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Melrose Avenue from La Cienega to Doheny Drive will be closed on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- La Brea Avenue from Melrose Avenue to Beverly Boulevard will be closed on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Beverly Boulevard from La Brea Avenue to San Vicente Boulevard will be closed on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- San Vicente Boulevard from Beverly Boulevard to Melrose Avenue (east side only) will be closed on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Free parking is available at Cedars-Sinai Medical Towers, located at 3rd Street and Sherbourne. Shuttle service is provided to the venue. Closer parking is also available for $10 at the (enter garage from Melrose east of San Vicente).
