I met James Duke Mason at a WEHO event for Lorna Luft, he seemed like a sweet kid but... JAMES DUKE MASON IS NOT YET QUALIFIED TO BE A MEMBER OF THE WEST HOLLYWOOD CITY COUNCIL. IT IS ONE OF THE HARDEST JOBS TO PROTECT THE MOST LIBERAL AND OPEN MINDED CITY IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD- and I AM NOT OVER-STATING THE FACTS!

Mason's apologetic defense of Nancy & Ronald Reagan, is, inadvertently, re-writing their history with AIDS, and that's all anyone needs to know, as one indisputable FACT, to realize he is under-educated at present time, or, perhaps, being overly respectful and dutiful as a son, who feels beholden to his father's role in the Reagan administration (who HASN'T BEEN IN THAT POSITION- NOT ME, I assure you, I still grapple with it, almost on a daily basis,) or perhaps he is being unduly influenced by a standard of conflicting principles, of his or of society's or...
However,

FACTS ARE FACTS...the Reagans were heartless and had abandoned their friends, inclusive of a very close friend, Rock Hudson, who Doris Day stood by, at a news conference that forever has been etched into my memory. The Reagans knew gay life way more than George H.W. Bush, who made missteps on AIDS due to ignorance, willful or not, the Reagans knew they were being cruel.
If George H.W. Bush could stand up and take his own son, George W. Bush, to task, during and after, his son's tenure as President, without mincing words, for egregious errors made under the name of his son, as Commander in Chief, Bush was more beholden to duty to country, and the defense of this land for all of us, including his own son, and this young and eager Mason's ancestors and for him too....then...

JAMES DUKE MASON...you are being TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. Take a deep breath and try...try your best to remember...you, too...are only human. Everyone knows how awesome you are but you mustn't be such an over-achiever...truly... for your benefit and so many others who SHALL DEPEND ON YOU.

Who would blame them? He's a looker, as in- a soon to be, another, THE MASON- an achiever and a builder of social structure, not even an actor (nothing wrong with that, eh, JD?) He has some serious life lessons to learn, and Mr. Mason, trust me, you need to know it, then believe it, only then will you be able to do the job you will be qualified for (don't take forever learning all these additional A,B,C's, as I had done- free advice- with a chaperone and/or bodyguard, on your tab, obviously.)

I have every reason to believe James Duke Mason has what it takes, one day to be elected a member of the West Hollywood City Council, up until this year, he seemed more qualified than the Leader of the House of Representatives for our country, but not yet, WEHO, and not by a long enough stretch, don't forget- his grandfather had to listen to George Cukor tell him repeatedly, how he wanted Cary Grant for a role James Mason made iconic, for Bradley Cooper- Masons are troopers who are born to make and become their own STARS too. WOW. I'll toast to that, in honor of my father-like mentor, Robin Leach.

This isn't about vintage or raw memories, this always will be the Gay Holocaust, and it has been diminished routinely, by Jews, gays, even MSNBC, and yes, I am passionate, but this is not a rant, just because I remember vividly what happened in those days, as does one of the heterosexual staff reporters at The New Yorker, who gave Hillary Clinton hell, for having made such an unspeakable mistake, as Mason continues to do, but she was running for President and had so many other things on her mind; Hillary Clinton did apologize, as she realized the severity of her error.

I quote from a 2016 issue of The New Yorker, this excerpt from Michael Specter's diatribe (ranting, raving and still rolling along, as an impeccable writer,) against Hillary Clinton, in the interests of the greater good, it demands your attention:

I urge you to read the entirety of this article, as well as Mr. Specter's entire life's work. He was one of the first journalists to advocate finding a cure for AIDS, as a priority, for Science AND The New York Times, and other highly esteemed media institutions- when straight men were still considered sissies, just because they seemed to care too much. You would have a hard time imagining a time when even The Grey Lady, i.e., the NYT, wouldn't say the word "gay." Whenever a "Lady" takes the hit, it's a grope-is EVERYONE GETTING THAT BY NOW?
Larry Kramer never thought Michael Specter ever had done enough to fight AIDS, in those rough patch days, and routinely, he would call and yell at him like Donald Trump having to do labor PERIODS. "Huh? YES ALL DAY AND TRY SEMESTERS!"
At the risk of changing subjects, (I self-admittedly am not risk adverse, ask my sister- she'll insist, even if you don't ask,) as former "Mayor of Patch West Hollywood," I had solicited answers to make myself and all of us at PATCH smarter on the subject of bisexuals. I would so appreciate if Mr. Mason would turn his attention back to his current official role as one of the leading proponents of Bi-sexual Pride and Discrimination, courtesy of LGBT in West Hollywood, Q, Too, "Thank you." (Who else thought someone had just sneezed?)
As an appointed officer, James Duke Mason, I implore you, make us smarter, help us care, greater than so many of us do, I and so many other less outspoken others remain utterly, if not also, otherly confused, especially with the addition of what I heard via Larry Mantle, on KPPC's "Air Talk," this new sexual arena called "Sexually Welcoming." Is that someone who likes sex VERY much with almost anyone? Someone I know explained it to me exactly that way. No joke.
Confusing, no? Or is this me again? It is not just me, and in earnest, James Duke Mason, you will need to call upon all of whom you are: those parts of you that are the 1950's James and Perry Mason both, "Sexually Welcoming" is no time to get Elizabeth Warren technical, am I right, Heather Tappen- if you really are one of the better Heathers, in good faith, you need to stress the importance of being earnest because I am older, gayer and more man than you will ever be, Tappen, but him and me we are Wilde cards in this world.
We all are in need of empathy and tolerance and YOUR guidance, James Duke Mason. Teaching the world about bi-sexuality, in earnest, is likely to be the biggest job you'll ever have.
