Man Who Hanged Himself at Middle School Was Weho Resident

Authorities have identified a man who hanged himself in a Los Angeles school playground as 36-year-old Martin Cabrera of West Hollywood.

A passer-by discovered the body hanging from a tree in the courtyard of Wilmington Middle School in Torrance on Sunday morning, the Daily Breeze reported over the weekend.

Cabrera was pronounced dead by Los Angeles Fire paramedics at 10:55 a.m., said a Los Angeles County coroner’s office public information officer. 

Los Angeles Police Department Harbor Division officials said Cabrera was not believed to be connected to the school.

Wilmington was closed for the summer. No children or staff were on campus.
