Michael Voltaggio's 'Ink Sack' Opens Today
The Melrose Avenue sandwich shop is a welcome prelude to the "Top Chef" winner's long-anticipated Weho eatery, ink..
When life gives you ink., make sandwiches. That seems to be the freshly minted motto of Michael Voltaggio.
While the Top Chef Season 6 winner's long-awaited venture at 8360 Melrose Ave. tiptoes toward a September opening (Eater reports ink. has passed all inspections, and the team, which includes sommelier Josh Goldman and chef de cuisine Cole Dickinson, is taking shape), it seems Voltaggio has been working on a little something on the side.
Just a few doors down, housed in the former churro shop, is Ink Sack, an innovative new eatery boasting sandwiches of all colors, shapes and sizes—including spicy miso-cured albacore and Mexican chocolate chip horchata. Prices range from $4 to $6, says LA Times' Daily Dish.Â
