PHOTOS: Vision of New Library Takes Shape

After nearly a year of construction, the new 32,000-foot LEED-certified library is on the path to completion.

Amidst the heavy construction at San Vicente Boulevard and Melrose Avenue, a state-of-the-art library is taking shape.

Step inside—the walls are marble, the ceiling is covered in wooden flowers. Dramatic concrete stairs wind up to the entrance and empty bookshelves face a view of the from the third floor.

The $64 million, three-story construction, designed by MDA Johnson Favaro, will house more than 150,000 print books, along with a coffee bar, additional meeting space and a new parking lot with 400 spaces, and is set to open this fall.
