Sunday's Scoop: Harvey Milk Day

Numerous organizations are honoring his legacy and spirit with a day of service.

The second annual project, led by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, LA PRIDE 2011 Honoree Suzy Jack, Gay for Good Los Angeles and other community leaders, honors the first openly gay man elected to public office in a major U.S. city by preparing new gardens at Roosevelt Senior High School (456 South Matthews St.).

At 1 p.m., Stonewall Young Democrats and CSUN Young Democrats will celebrate Harvey Milk Day with a special program that addresses homophobia and transphobia at school. This event will take place at The Exchange (114 West 5th St.) in Los Angeles.

Equality California Town Hall Meeting

West Hollywood is one of 11 cities to hold a town hall to discuss moving forward with a ballot initiative to overturn Prop. 8. The meeting takes place 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the . Using the feedback gathered at the meeting, Equality California aims to conduct polling to determine the likelihood of a measure passing.
