Suspicious Package In West Hollywood Cleared, No Threat Found

The package was found near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in West Hollywood.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – A suspicious package was found Tuesday night near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in West Hollywood, but authorities determined it was not dangerous.

A bomb squad was sent to the location around 9:30 p.m. and Santa Monica Boulevard was closed between Orange Grove and Hayworth avenues and Fairfax Avenue was closed between Norton Avenue and Romaine Street while authorities investigated the package, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

A robot was sent in to inspect the device, which appeared to be a pressure cooker, but did not detonate it, NBC4 reported.

Just after 11 p.m., the package was determined to be "non- threatening" and streets would be reopened, the sheriff's department said.
