Thursday's Scoop: Tonight Marks First Anniversary of Melrose Night

It has been one year since the community launched its monthly recession-friendly food truck event.

Greetings, and welcome to today's City Scoop. Here's what's happening Thursday in West Hollywood:

Main Event: Melrose Night

This evening marks the first anniversary of Melrose Night. Popular food trucks will line Melrose Avenue, between Ogden Drive at and Stanley Avenue, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Local shops are staying open late to offer special promotions. Street parking is available, with lots open at Barracuda and Sportie LA.

Runner Up: Business Mixer at Isla Cantina

The American-Russian Business Council, a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, will be hosting a business mixer at on the Sunset Strip this evening to celebrate the Russian Orthodox Christmas and New Year. The business mixer begins at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $50 at the door and includes holiday drinks sponsored by Russian Standard vodka, food and special guests.

The city gave notice last month that the regular meeting of the West Hollywood Planning Commission, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, had been canceled. The next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at West Hollywood Park Public Meeting Room - Council Chambers, 625 N. San Vicente Blvd.

The Forecast:

It's going to be another unseasonably warm day in West Hollywood. The National Weather Service forecasts mostly sunny skies, with a high near 89. West Hollywood will see calm wind and clear skies in the evening. Temperatures are expected to drop to around 56 degrees.
