Wednesday's Scoop: City to Celebrate Denim Day
Dress in jeans and stand in support of rape survivors at City Hall to observe Peace Over Violence Denim Day.

Denim Day
West Hollywood city employees will wear denim to work and gather outside at 10 a.m. to raise awareness about rape and sexual violence. The news conference will feature Leona Smith, director of counseling services for Peace over Violence. The group launched Denim Day in Los Angeles and across the United States in 1999, according to City News Service, when an Italian court overturned a rape conviction partially because the victim was wearing tight jeans.

Senior Advisory Board Meeting

At 2:30 p.m., the Board will ride one of the new Cityline vans to a tour of the SOVA Food and Community Services Center at 1140 N. La Brea. The next meeting is set for Wednesday, May 25.Â
