West Hollywood Coronavirus Update: Los Angeles County Revises Health Officer Order To Allow Outdoor Dining
The revised Order allows outdoor dining and removes the closure of lower-risk retail businesses between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health revised its Health Officer Order on Friday, January 29, 2021, after the State of California lifted a Regional Stay Home Order for the Southern California region. The revised Order allows outdoor dining and removes the closure of lower-risk retail businesses between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. There are no changes to schools in the latest Order.

Restaurants and breweries may reopen for outdoor dining, and wineries may reopen for outdoor wine tastings in compliance with LA County Public Health Restaurant Protocol Appendix I with physical distancing and new infection protocols in place, including:

- Employees that may come in contact with customers must wear both a face covering and a face shield when interacting with customers and when in customer service areas;
- Outdoor dining table seating must be limited to no more than six people per table, all of whom must be from the same household. All establishments must post signage and verbally inform customers that everyone sharing a table must be from the same household;
- Outdoor tables must be repositioned or removed so that all tables are at least eight feet apart; and
- Televisions screens or other screens that broadcast programming must remain off until further notice
- Restaurants must follow the California Department of Public Health’s mandatory guidance on the Use of Temporary Structures for Outdoor Business Operations.
The following is allowed at this time with adherence to all sector-specific directives to ensure physical distancing, wearing of face coverings, and infection control:
- Private gatherings outdoors up to three households and up to a total of 15 people;
- Museums, zoos, aquariums outdoor operations at 50-percent occupancy;
- Cardrooms outdoor operations at 50-percent occupancy;
- Miniature golf, go-karts, batting cages outdoor operations at 50-percent occupancy;
- Outdoor recreational activities are open;
- Hotels and motels for tourism and individual travel allowed;
- Fitness facilities outdoor operations at 50-percent occupancy;
- Personal care services open indoors at 25-percent capacity; and
- Indoor mall, shopping center, lower-risk retail open at 25-percent indoor capacity (with food courts and common areas closed).
Los Angeles County remains in the most restrictive (purple) tier of the State of California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy and community transmission of COVID-19, even as daily counts are decreasing, remains high and widespread. Due to the lifting of the State Regional Stay at Home Order, the City of West Hollywood will resume enforcement of the following parking regulations on Monday, February 1, 2021: Permit parking enforcement on all residential streets; Street sweeping enforcement; and AM/PM peak hour enforcement on Fountain Avenue. In addition, starting on Monday, February 1, 2021, visitor permits will no longer be available at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station. Visitor permits may be acquired at the Kings Road Parking Garage or online through the City’s Permit-by-Plate self-service portal. Los Angeles County residents who are 65 years old and older can now register for COVID-19 vaccination appointments. Residents with internet access and a computer are urged to use www.VaccinateLACounty.com to sign up for a vaccination appointment. For people without access to a computer or the internet, or people with disabilities, an LA County call center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. to help schedule appointments at (833) 540-0473.
The City of West Hollywood has declared a local emergency in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Individuals are advised to stay at home as much as possible and limit close interactions to those in your household. When in public, community members should maintain your space with social (physical) distancing of at least six feet, and cover your face. Public Health officials recommend that everyone, even those who are vaccinated, continue to follow physical distancing and infection control directives and wear a clean face covering that securely covers both your nose and mouth when in in public.
West Hollywood City Hall is currently closed to the public and has suspended all in-person transactions. Most public City buildings and facilities remain closed. City Hall remains accessible for business and essential services with transactions to be conducted by phone (323) 848-6400 and via the City’s website at www.weho.org.
