West Hollywood Deputies Arrest Suspected Kidnapper After Standoff
West Hollywood detectives were involved in a shooting and standoff in Studio City where they went looking for a suspected kidnapper.
STUDIO CITY, CA — A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy opened fire in Studio City while looking for a kidnapping suspect Thursday morning. The incident triggered an armed standoff, but no one was hurt.
It happened at about 7:30 a.m. in the 11500 block of Dona Teresa Drive, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Detectives entered the home to look for the kidnapping suspect, and another man at the house pointed a gun at the deputies, according to police. In the end, deputies arrested both the kidnapping suspect and the alleged gunman.
"West Hollywood detectives ... were here at the location (serving) a search warrant," sheriff's Deputy Eric Ortiz said. "They were looking for a named suspect who was wanted for vandalism, kidnapping and domestic violence.
"Upon entering the location, they detained ... three subjects inside the location, and there was one suspect who pointed a firearm at deputies, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred," Ortiz said.

The names of the alleged gunman and kidnapping suspect were not immediately released. A firearm was recovered at the scene, according to the sheriff's department.
Los Angeles Police Department officers established a perimeter in the neighborhood while an investigation was conducted, and a sheriff's SWAT team searched the home.
