Water, water, every where,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, every where,
Nor any drop to drink.
THINK 2019 Fluent, inclusive of the time and money you'd have to invest in licensing Samuel Taylor Coleridge's 1834 masterpiece, think: dated, ye olde spelling of "Rime," British, Bookish, not cleverish to think beyond your own pool of talent and creativity, not to mention a waste of time in, a conservation-centric competition.
(Feel free to read "Rime" in its entirety for inspiration: https://www.poetryfoundation.o...)
THINK Poster and Easy to Understand message; think the impact it has on you and think nerdy, if that's who you are and/or like that sort of thing-even if you decrease your odds of winning this poster contest, you may better your odds of having a career like Bill Gates.
We at PATCH are not just know-it-alls, we are doers too, and I happened to have done something good once, even for L.A. water conservation, as I created an original line of porcelain plates, and with each set sold, I made a donation to the Mayor's Fund for Los Angeles, whose favorite charities include "Save A Drop."
These commemorative plates that featured L.A. River Bridges, helped launch a public art triennial called CURRENT: L.A. Water. This year FOOD will be the L.A. iteration of CURRENT, sponsored by the Bloomberg Foundation. https://culturela.org/programs...
AT PATCH we tell you more to put you in a good mood, even if we don't always succeed, and to put you in the know- so know that water AND art are inextricably linked, as art always reflects the challenges we face as a society, and I urge you to check out Lauren Bon's amazing Water Wheel, she has been constructing for years, as an actual architectural piece of infrastructure that will retrieve fresh water from the L.A. River and deliver it to communities that need it most. It's a living art project called: Bending The River Back Into The City. https://www.metabolicstudio.or...
Onward artist/soldiers and best of luck!
