101 Freeway Pileup Injures 5, Jams Up Morning Rush Hour

Five people were hurt in a pileup in the Woodland Hills area Thursday morning.

WOODLAND HILLS, CA — A pileup on the on the westbound Ventura (101) Freeway in the Woodland Hills area left four people hospitalized Thursday morning and backed up morning traffic through rush hour.

The crash happened at about 7:15 a.m. near the Shoup Avenue area, and five people were injured, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. All five were treated at the scene and four were rushed to the hospital with injuries that were not life- threatening, the LAFD reported.

All westbound lanes were closed until about 7:50 a.m., when most of the lanes were reopened. The cause of the crash was under investigation, according to the California Highway Patrol.
