UPDATE: Brushfire Burns Near Topanga Canyon and Mulholland

Flames advanced to about 30 yards away from some homes.

Update: Flames blackened about one acre of brush in the Woodland Hills area Monday, but nobody was injured and no structures were burned.

The fire was reported at 4:36 p.m. near Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Mulholland Drive, according to Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Flames advanced to about 30 yards away from some homes, but fire crews fought back the blaze with the help of county crews and a SuperScooper water- dropping aircraft.

The fire was declared knocked down after about an hour.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Previous story: About an acre of brush was burning near Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Mulholland Drive in Woodland Hills Monday afternoon, according to Erik Scott, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman.

The fire was reported at 4:36 p.m., he said.
