Visitors also can select a party preference to get a <a href="http://lavote.net/LOCATOR" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">sample ballot</a>. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. In addition to the presidential primary, voters will weigh in on a U.S. Senate candidate and two statewide ballot measures. If passed, Proposition 29 would add a $1 tax to cigarette to fund cancer research. Prop. 28 would put a 12-year term limit on lawmakers in the state Legislature. A politician currently can serve in office for 14 years.
