L.A. County Jobless Rate Holds Steady At 4.4%: EDD

The unemployment rate in Los Angeles County held steady at 4.4% in September compared to the previous month, according to state data.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY -- The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Los Angeles County held steady at 4.4% in September, compared to August 2019, the state Employment Development Department disclosed Friday.

Last month's unemployment rate was below the September 2018 rate, which was 4.6%, according to the EDD.

Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4% in September, down from the 4.1% rate in August and from 4.1% in September 2018.

According to the EDD, total nonfarm employment in Los Angeles County rose by 18,200 between August and September to reach more than 4.5 million. The government sector led with way by adding 15,400 jobs.
