Monday Essentials: Cheapest Gas, Weather and More
Five things you need to know, Monday, July 22.

Hey Patchers, we're bringing back an old Patch feature. A daily Five Things column (Monday's Five Things will be called Monday Essentials) will provide reminders about upcoming events, weather forecasts, community meetings, weekend fun to plan for, lowest gas prices for the week and more.Â
If you have an event you'd like us to consider for Five Things, be sure to add it to the events calendar. We check it often!
Here are today's five things:Â
- The National Weather Service is giving us a 20 percent chance of rain today and tonight, but the rest of the week, expect sun. Highs will start at 85 degrees today and steadily rise to 98 degrees by Thursday, where it will stay through the weekend.
- Need to fill up the tank for the week? GasBuddy.com reports the lowest price per gallon of regular gas in Woodland Hills is $3.97. Find it at the Arco station at 22004 Clarendon St. at Topanga Canyon Boulevard.Â
- Sign up your kids for two free games of bowling every day for the balance of the summer at participating bowling alleys. Here are links to the nearest locations in the San Fernando Valley and Ventura: Canoga Park Bowl, Mission Hills Bowl, Pinz, Corbin Bowling Ctr, Buena Lanes, Harley's Camarillo Bowl, and Harley's Simi Bowl
- Today's the deadline to nominate your favorite Neighborhood Council for the second annual EmpowerLA awards. The awards are given to Councils that best fulfill their city charter mandate of promoting more citizen participation in government and making government more responsive to local needs. Submit your nominations at SurveyMonkey.com/s/EmpowerLAAwards2013 by the end of the day.
- If you have a college student in the family with a valid .edu email address, he or she can sign up for free six-month Amazon Prime membership. Just click here to to grab this freebie worth $39.
