Salute the Price of Freedom in Canoga Park

The annual Canoga Park Memorial Day celebration is back, this year with the theme "Saluting the Price of Freedom."

The observance takes place in three parts Monday: a 5K run/walk, a parade and a car show.

The 5K begins at 8:30 a.m., but if you're not already registered, you can show up to do so as early as 6:30 a.m. The race itself take place on Sherman Way between Jordan and Mason avenues. The cost to participate is $35 for adults and $25 for children 14 and younger.

The parade, which begins at 11 a.m., has a new, 1.5-mile-long route this year. The parade will run along Sherman Way, starting at Owensmouth Avenue and ending at Mason Avenue.

Finally, there will be a car show with live entertainment until 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church, 20553 Sherman Way.

The events are presented by the Canoga Park/West Hills Chamber of Commerce.
