SigAlert: Fatal Crash Jams 101 Freeway During Morning Rush Hour

One person died and several lanes of the Ventura (101) Freeway remained closed following a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning.

WOODLAND HILLS, CA — A two-vehicle crash on the westbound Ventura (101) Freeway in Woodland Hills killed one person Thursday morning, and triggered the closure of three lanes of the freeway.

The three fast lanes were expected to remain closed at least until 9 a.m. as authorities investigate the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash occurred about 5 a.m. near the De Soto Avenue exit and involved a Nissan SUV and a Toyota, according to the CHP.

A representative from the coroner's office was called out to the scene at 5:27 a.m., the CHP said.
