Driver in Critical Condition After Smashing Into Power Pole on Winnetka

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

UPDATE 11:29 p.m.

An approximately 25-year-old man is in critical condition after a crash in the 6000 block of Winnetka Avenue in Woodland Hills just before 7 p.m. Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters pulled the man from wreckage after his vehicle collided with a power pole. He was taken to a nearby trauma center. The cause of the crash was under investigation.

The crash caused a small blackout on Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's Twitter page. The power also reportedly went out at nearby Pierce College's John Shepherd Stadium, according to several readers that commented on this story.

The outage caused the cancellation of Pierce's football game against visiting Moorpark College, according to the Ventura County Star. The power is expected to be out at the field until Sunday, according to the report, and the game has been moved to Monday.
