2 Dead In Charter Bus Crash Near Pueblo

The bus was carrying a church group, authorities said.

A charter bus crashed off a bridge embankment on Interstate 25 Sunday afternoon, killing two people and injuring several others, Colorado State Patrol said. The bus was carrying 15 members of a New Mexico church group.

The bus was traveling south on the highway when it struck a bridge structure about 10 miles north of Pueblo, state patrol said. The bus veered off the west side of the road and the 22-year-old driver was ejected from the vehicle, CSP said.

The driver may have suffered a seizure, according to The Denver Post; however, the coroner has not confirmed the information.

The bus was carrying five adults and ten youth to Albuquerque, after they attended a convention in Denver.

Several helicopters and multiple fire crews and ambulances were called to the scene and 13 people were taken to hospitals in Pueblo. Their conditions were not known.

The Aquinas Newman Center identified the deceased on their website as seminarian Jason Marshall and driver Anthony Padilla.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, state patrol said.

Colorado State Patrol is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call 719-544-2424.
