Border Patrol Agents Arrest Escaped Colorado Prisoners

Agents have arrested Jose Rodriguez and Raul Guzman. They are serving multiyear sentences for various drug charges.

ACROSS COLORADO, CO—U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested two fugitives who escaped from a prison in Florence, Colorado Wednesday.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protections, agents patrolling west of Sells, Arizona, conducted an immigration-related traffic stop on a 2010 Nissan Titan around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

During the stop, they encountered a 30-year-old female driver and two adult male passengers.

Agents said the two men initially claimed to be illegal aliens wishing to be immediately returned to Mexico. Ultimately, they admitted to agents they were U.S. citizens and had escaped from prison.

Both 35-year-old Jose Rodriguez and 42-year-old Raul Guzman are serving multiyear sentences for various drug charges.

Agents arrested Rodriguez and Guzman, as well as the driver, and turned them over to the U.S. Marshals Service.
