Colorado Coronavirus Update: 1,203 New Cases Reported

Colorado began to see an uptick in coronavirus case numbers after the holiday season, but the state has seen a decline over the past month, public health data shows.

Between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon, 1,203 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Colorado.

As of Thursday, 409,683 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the state among more than 2,478,000 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed. Around 22,655 people have been hospitalized.

Colorado's COVID-19 death toll:

• Deaths due to COVID-19: 5,568
• Deaths among cases: 5,781

Around 30 percent of the state's critical care ventilators were in use as of Thursday, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Around 10 percent of Colorado hospitals reported anticipating staff shortages over the next week, and 2 percent of facilities reported anticipating ICU bed shortages.

Many Colorado counties shifted Saturday from Level Orange to Level Yellow on the state's updated 'Dial 2.0.' The decision to update the dial was made as Coloradans ages 70 and older continue to receive vaccines, officials said. Coronavirus positivity rates have also been dropping across the state, the latest data shows.
