A Colorado geophysicist is accused of dragging a police officer down the stairs outside the U.S. Capitol into the mob below, The New York Times reported. Another man was then seen beating the officer with an American flag.

Jeffrey Sabol bought a plane ticket to Switzerland in an attempt to flee after the Jan. 6 riot, according to the report. Switzerland doesn't have an extradition treaty with the United States.
