Gateway Canyons Ranches And Resort Remains On Market For $279M
Owned by the founder of the Discovery Channel, the massive ranch and resort is one of the most expensive listings in the nation.
GATEWAY, CO — A famous Colorado property remains on the market for $279 million. Owned by the founder of the Discovery Channel, the 8,700-acre property in the Utah border town of Gateway is one of the most expensive listings in the country.
Gateway Canyons Ranches & Resort, at 40275 Highway 141, features a helicopter pad and an observatory. The massive property is mostly in Mesa County, but stretches over the border into Utah. The resort is surrounded by the Uncompahgre Plateau, Piñon Mesa and La Sal Mountains. A bison herd can often be seen wandering across the property, listing agents said.
West Creek Ranch was listed for sale without the resort in 2017 for $149 million. The property's owners, John and Maureen Hendricks, then decided to add the entire neighboring resort and bump the price to $279 million. John Hendricks is the founder and former chairman of Discovery, Inc.
