New Colorado Blood Drive To Test For Coronavirus Antibodies

A new statewide blood drive will test for COVID-19 antibodies, officials said.

The Colorado State Patrol is working with Vitalant to host the virtual blood drive throughout February.

"Donations of blood often see a sharp decline in the winter months and the COVID-19 epidemic has complicated things further, cancelling many blood donation events across our state," Colorado State Patrol said in a news release. "But the need for donations is still there."

You can sign up to receive an invitation for the blood drive here. You can then choose a location and time that works best for you, organizers said. Using the same email address, you can choose 'schedule now' to book an appointment at any blood donation location. You're asked to eat a healthy meal before donating and to bring photo identification, organizers said.

A single donation has the ability to save up to three lives.

"On behalf of the Colorado State Patrol: we thank you for your willingness to help in this life-saving cause," the agency said.
