Pro Hockey Players Sonny Milano And A.J. Greer Arrested

Colorado Avalanche player A.J. Greer and Sonny Milano, who played in several games for the Columbus Blue Jackets hockey team last season, were reportedly arrested following an argument and subsequent fight in Manhattan. NYPD detective George Tsourovakas told CNN the two hockey players were arrested in New York City around 6:30 a.m Sunday morning on assault charges.

The fight followed an argument over a bill, the New York Post reported, citing police sources. The duo was ordered to appear in court at a later date.

Milano and Greer were inside an apartment on West Houston Street near Sullivan Street in Greenwich Village, the Post reported, when the fight broke out with a 28-year-old man. The three had been reportedly arguing over a bill at a Chelsea nightclub.

Colorado drafted Greer, a 22-year-old native of Quebec, in the second round in 2015. He played 15 games for the Avalanche last season and was later reassigned to the minor league Colorado Eagles.

The Avalanche said the team was aware of the arrest.

The Blue Jackets drafted Milano, 23, in the first round in 2014. He played in eight games last season and was assigned to the team's minor league affiliate the Cleveland Monsters in November 2018.

The Blue Jackets wrote in a statement it is also aware of the arrest report and is reviewing the situation.

"We will wait until the end of the investigation to comment," Senior Vice President of Communications Jean Martineau told CNN.
