Wholesale Marijuana Cost In CO Grows For Fourth Straight Quarter
A pound of wholesale marijuana currently goes for an average of $999 per pound, the highest point since more than a year ago.
ACROSS COLORADO — The price of wholesale pot continues to climb in Colorado, according to reports, as the new average per pound hovers around $1,000. That’s a $150 increase since last quarter and just under $250 more than the average price a year ago.
The Colorado Department of Revenue recently released the figures detailing the new market rate price for retail adult-use marijuana, the Denver Post reported, marking the fourth straight quarter the price of wholesale pot increased. The new market rate of $999 per pound goes into effect Oct. 1.
Colorado is not alone as marijuana prices continue an upward trend following a long period of decline. According to an August report by Seaport Global, an investment bank with offices in New York and New Orleans, wholesale prices in Oregon and Washington — the other two states to first legalize recreational weed — increased by 100 percent and 46 percent, respectively.

The report notes that increases could be due to a number of factors, including stronger demand and weaker supply, growers going out of business, and cultivators sitting on product while hoping for a more favorable market.
Also included in the latest Colorado report were trim prices, which remained at $325 per pound, the Cannabis Business Times reported. The bud and trim allocated for extraction rates rose slightly to $254 and $200 per pound, respectively, compared to $227 and $177 per pound last quarter. Immature plant seeds remained at $8 each, while wet whole plants rose to $173 per pound and seeds increased to $5 each.
