Art Of The State 2019 Opens At Arvada Center
Works from 135 top artists in Colorado are displayed in a juried show through March 31.

ARVADA, CO – Every three years, staff at Arvada Center's galleries undertake an enormous task: To bring state-wide works from the best Colorado artists under one roof in an exhibit at the Arvada Center's 10,000 ft. space in three galleries.
The Art of the State 2019, a showcase of the best of Colorado art, opened Thursday at the Arvada Center and runs through Mar. 31, 2019. The exhibit showcases work from 135 Colorado artists, winnowed down from 1,555 entries.
"Much thought and discussion went into making this an exhibition that exemplifies the high-quality and diverse nature of the work being created in the state," Collin Parson, director of galleries and curator for the Arvada Center told Westword. (Parson's own works are being displayed in a multi-generational exhibit in Lakewood also starting this week.)

The exhibit features work from both emerging and established artists working in every medium you can imagine, including installation.
"We have a video game created by artist team Bearwarp that uses everyday appliances such as an alarm clock, lamp, hair dryer and answering machine as the controller," Parson told Westword. "Each time you flip a switch or push a button, something different happens in the game."
