Arvada Chamber Names Man, Woman Of The Year
Nine Arvadans — including the man and woman of the year — were highlighted in the chamber's 69th annual awards ceremony.

ARVADA, CO — The 69th Annual Arvada Chamber Awards Ceremony was hosted Wednesday, and nine people were named for their contributions to the city in 2019. This year's event was held virtually amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Awards were given in five categories: Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Image Award, AYP Leadership Award and Rising Star Award.
Ed Tomlinson was named Man of the Year.

"Friends and colleagues describe Ed as benevolent and community-centered," the chamber said in a statement.
"[He] has served on numerous committees, supported our local schools and volunteered for many organizations such as the Arvada Festivals Commission, Adopt a Street and the Arvada Harvest Festival. He was twice-elected onto the Arvada Fire Protection District, the first non-fireman to serve on that board."

Renee Nelson was named Woman of the Year.
The chamber called her a "shining example of an individual with great integrity who selflessly and continuously devotes her time, energy and resources to help her community and those in need."
"Renee seems to have endless compassion and passion for her community and those that live here ensuring it stays vibrant, alive and healthy from grass roots up. Renee frequently works around the clock on community projects and helping individuals in their hour of need, as well as helping injured animals. She’s typically spending her vacation days and any spare time making Arvada a more vibrant and enjoyable place to call home. "
