Arvada Coronavirus In Schools: List Of Outbreaks

"We're seeing our most rapid increase among middle and high-school students, who are currently unvaccinated," Gov. Jared Polis said.

ARVADA, CO — Schools across Denver's metro area have seen a recent surge of coronavirus cases, Gov. Jared Polis announced Tuesday.

The majority of new cases have been reported at middle and high schools; however elementary schools are also reporting outbreaks.

Over the past two weeks, the following cases have been reported at Arvada schools:

  • Arvada West High: 16 cases; 60 over past three months
  • Drake Middle: 5 cases; 15 over past three months
  • Fitzmorris Elementary: 3 cases; 4 over past three months
  • Hackberry Hill Elementary: 4 cases; 9 over past three months
  • Vanderhoof Elementary: 2 cases; 7 over past three months
  • Arvada High: 2 cases; 24 over past three months
  • Arvada K-8: 1 case; 7 over past three months
  • Peck Elementary: 1 case; 4 over past three months
  • Thomson Elementary: 1 case; 2 over past three months

"We’re seeing our most rapid increase among middle and high-school students, who are currently unvaccinated," Polis said.

The Pfizer vaccine is on its way to being approved for use in patients 12 to 15 years old, federal public health officials said.

Children’s Colorado has made appointments available to those ages 16 and older who are eligible to receive the two-dose Pfizer vaccine at their Aurora and Colorado Springs facilities. You can register for the vaccine here.

More than 2.5 million Coloradans have received at least their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to state data. More than 1.7 million — around 30 percent of the state's population — are fully immunized.
