Arvada Vehicle Theft, Crime Spree Ends In 1 Arrest

Car thieves stole vehicles and struck someone who tried to confront them, Arvada police said.

ARVADA, CO — One person was taken into custody Saturday morning after a string of vehicle thefts and attempted vehicle thefts in Arvada, police said. At least one suspect remains at large.

Suspects fired a shot at one vehicle owner and struck another owner with their car, according to authorities.

The suspects were in a stolen Kia Soul, when they tried to break into a truck around 2:50 a.m. in the 7300 block of West 73rd Avenue, police said. The truck's owner confronted the suspects, and they fired a gun and left the area, according to authorities. No injuries were reported.

A brown Kia Soul was then reportedly involved in another vehicle theft at 6:42 a.m. in the 7500 block of Pierce St., where a Hyundai Elantra was stolen, police said.

The suspects then drove both vehicles to the 8100 block of Kline Street just after 7 a.m. and tried to break into another car there, police said. The suspects then struck the car's owner with one of the stolen vehicles after the owner tried to confront them, according to authorities.

The owner's injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

The suspects then abandoned the Kia Soul and took off in the Hyundai, police said.

Officers found the Hyundai in the 7400 block of W 84th Way and a chase ensued. The officers were able to stop the car near I-70 and Sheridan Boulevard, but only one suspect was inside, and he took off on foot, police said. Officers were able to catch him and take him into custody.

It was unclear how many suspects were involved in the crime spree.
