Each year, the city of Arvada publishes its water quality report for its residents. In the report, they discuss water regulations, testing, and general information about our critical needs.
Did you know Arvada’s drinking water comes from two main sources: Denver Water’s Moffat System, which we use year-round, and Clear Creek, which diverts snowmelt into our man-made canals. Arvada residents consume nearly 6 billion gallons of drinking water EACH YEAR!
Currently, both Ralston and Arvada Reservoirs have a moderately high susceptibility rating for potential contaminants. Some possible contributors to contaminants in our area are: Abandoned Contaminated Sites, Chemical Inventory/Storage Sites, Permitted Wastewater Discharge Sites, Underground and Leaking Storage Tank Sites, Solid Waste Sites, Abandoned Mine Sites, Commercial/ Industrial/Transportation, High-Intensity Residential, Quarries/Strip Mines/Gravel Pits, Septic Systems, or Oil/Gas Wells.

Arvada has two Water Treatment Plants that help with purification and disinfection. After it is treated, the water is pushed through more than 632 miles of water pipes and through 10 water storage tanks before it arrives in our homes and offices.
