Arvada's Ralston Creek Corridor Sewer Project: Update
The city has posted a video that outlines the latest information about the Ralston Creek Corridor sewer line project.
ARVADA, CO — Arvada officials posted a video Thursday that offers updates for the 11,400-foot sewer line that's being installed along the Ralston Creek corridor between Independence Street and Simms Street.
The capital improvement project, which began in early 2020, is replacing the current 21-inch line with a 30-inch line.
The upstream end of the line is at 71st Avenue and Simms Street, and the downstream is at Brooks Drive and Independence Street.

Steve Wyant, the city's wastewater and stormwater manager, said the line carries a huge load.
"The Ralston trunk carries on average about 57 percent of all of the sanitary sewer that's generated in the city of Arvada," Wyant says in the video.

In 2015, a sewer line inspection revealed problems with the line.
"A section of 21-inch clay pipe was showing some areas of decay and deterioration — we also had capacity concerns with that because it's actually a bottleneck," Wyant said.
"We want to be proactive and make sure that we are addressing these issues, and not reactive. It's a massive project — it's critically important for the long term investment in the infrastructure for the city of Arvada."
Most of the project has been completed, but the remainder will "be completed later as funding is prioritized," officials said.
