Camp Ember, Firefighter Camp For Girls 16-18, Deadline Approaches

Apply now to join the third season for Camp Ember, a free, immersive firefighter experience.

ARVADA, CO– Applications are now open for the third year of Red Rocks Community College-based free four-day camp for girls who want to explore firefighting. The deadline to apply is March 21.

About 15 young women selected for Camp ember will have training, mentorship from community female firefighters, lodging, transportation between training events and food/drink.

The camp is described as an "immersive introduction to the fire service for young women."

To a young girl, using the word "firefighter" instead of "fireman" shows her possibilities and "gives her a little bit of belief," said Rachel Kohler female firefighter and founder of Camp Ember.

"With firefighting you can do something every day and help people. That's two of my favorite things," said 2017 camp participate Amber Branch in a video.
