The City will host remote public meetings on Sept. 30, from 12 to 1 p.m. and on Oct. 8, from 5 to 6 p.m, and people will be able to participate using voice and video over the internet, or by phone. Please register in advance at https://arvada.org/Inclusive-Arvada. For those who do not have internet access, registration is available at 720-898-7565.

The purpose of the meetings is to provide a forum for members of our community to share their vision for a more welcoming Arvada, concerns related to inclusion and racial equity, and ways they would like to be involved moving forward. A representative from the Government Alliance on Racial Equity (GARE), which the City recently joined, will help facilitate the conversations.

The City of Arvada team recognizes that diversity, equity and inclusion are inextricably linked to our ability to achieve our organizational goals, to be an employer of choice and to deliver our mission of “delivering superior services to enhance the lives of everyone in our community.” In 2019, an internal group of City team members convened as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, to build on the foundational work already completed, and to create a framework to embed DEI in our City organization and the broader community. Following the death of George Floyd in May and the growing national conversations on social justice, the City recommitted to engaging the community on these vital issues and helping to lead for positive change. The community conversations are next steps in what is expected to be a sustained, long-term focus on equity and inclusion in our community.
