Colorado Coronavirus Update: 1,148 New Cases Reported

Here are the latest coronavirus numbers in Colorado. Around half of all new cases are variants, public health officials said.

Daily coronavirus case numbers in Colorado have surged over the past month, state public health officials said.

Between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon, 1,148 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Colorado.

As of Thursday, 519,414 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the state among more than 2,941,000 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed. Around 28,453 people have been hospitalized.

At least half of all new cases are variants, public health officials said.

  • Deaths among cases: 6,345

Colorado reached a milestone in its battle against the coronavirus — more than 2 million residents are now fully vaccinated, Gov. Jared Polis announced Thursday. Out of 4.7 million Coloradans who are eligible to receive the vaccine, more than 2.6 million have received one dose, state public health data shows.

But despite the progress, high case rates continue. Around 37 percent of the state's critical care ventilators were in use as of Thursday, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Around 8 percent of Colorado hospitals reported anticipating staff shortages over the next week, and 6 percent of facilities reported anticipating ICU bed shortages.
