ARVADA, CO — The Fourth of July is filled with fireworks, parties and loud events that can leave pets anxious and skittish. More pets go missing during the July 4 week than any other time of year, according to the American Kennel Club.
Many pets have gone missing in Denver's metro area. While private fireworks are illegal in Arvada, booms and crackles could still be heard in many neighborhoods over the past week.
Loud bangs can terrify pets. A dog was rescued last week in Arvada after spending three weeks away from home. A thunderstorm startled her and she escaped from her yard in Denver.
