'Educating Rita' Comes To Arvada Center
Arvada Center's Intimate Black Box theater opens 2018-19 season with charming two-actor performance.

ARVADA, CO – Cheeky Liverpool hairdresser Rita White comes to the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities on October 5 for the opening show of the Black Box theater's 2018-2019 season.
"Educating Rita," a Pygmalion-based 1980 two-character play, stars Metro Denver favorites Emily Van Fleet (Rita) and John Hutton (Frank).
Rita, a working-class hairdresser, wants to learn. Frank, a failed poet and professor, wants to drink. Surprising and touching lessons are learned by both when the two are thrown together. The performance is directed by Lynne Collins.

John Hutton (Frank) is a very familiar actor to Colorado audiences having spent 23 years with the Denver Center Theatre Company. Other local credits include work with Colorado Shakespeare Festival, where he last appeared in 2016 and Curious Theatre Company.

Emily Van Fleet (Rita) has performed in nine Arvada Center productions, including "Sunday in the Park with George," "The Drowning Girls," "Bus Stop," "Tartuffe," and "Death Takes a Holiday." She will return to the Black Box stage when the Repertory Company opens its third season in February 2019.

Previews: Oct. 3 and 4, 2018 Tickets : $25
Performances: Oct. 5 – Nov. 11, 2018 Wed at 1:00 pm, Thurs – Sat at 7:30 pm, Sun at 2:00 pm.
Opening night: Friday, October 5, 2018
