G-Line Train Testing Moves Forward In Arvada, Wheat Ridge
Train horns will sound during testing for 24 hours until quiet zones are established, RTD said.

ARVADA, CO – The G-Line inched another step closer to operation Friday with the addition of more test-trains for longer periods, RTD announced.
Testing will now extend to 24-hours along the 11.2-mile track from Union Station through Arvada and into Wheat Ridge. Testing is needed to fine-tune communication along the track and to evaluate the technology that activates closing gates at 16 grade-level train crossings. The crossing system is the same as the one RTD uses for the University A-Line between Union Station downtown to Denver International Airport.
The train tests are also being performed to get local residents accustomed to their presence.

By now, many Arvadans are used to hearing train horns at intersections. Those horns will continue as the G-Line testing expands.
Eventually, the agency will develop quiet zones near residential areas.

When the G Line officially opens, trains will run from 4 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., with 15-minute frequency between 6 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and every 30 minutes during off-peak hours, RTD said.
Human flaggers will be present at railroad crossings until RTD receives the necessary state and federal approvals to remove them, the agency said.
