Groovy-Themed Arvada Harvest Festival This Weekend
Bring your 60s costumes for a funky parade and festival this weekend.

ARVADA, CO – The Arvada Harvest Festival celebrates its 93rd year this weekend to "commemorate the hearty history of the once primarily farming community of Arvada, Colorado."
Of course, the Olde Town festival and yearly parade has evolved into so much more over its nine-decade history. This year's parade theme is "Celebrating the 60's" and promises to be a very groovy event, starting Saturday at 9 a.m. kicking off from 57th Ave. and Olde Wadsworth Blvd.
The route heads north on Olde Wadsworth, turns left (west) onto Ralston Road, and ends at Holland Street.

The festival also features live music, carnival rides, games and vendors, as well as a spelling bee, talent show and car show. The fest will also include a free screening of Mary Poppins in the park at Saturday at 7:30 at McIlvoy Park, 5750 Upham St. with prizes, games, and popcorn.
The festival's history began in October, 1925 to celebrate "the completion of the first concrete road between Arvada and Denver," organizers say. It's now hosted by a committee of volunteers with the of the Arvada Junior Chamber Foundation.
