It is because of these staggering numbers that we must stand up and take notice, protect our elderly and report a suspected crime to law enforcement. Â For more information on what to look for, resources and ways to protect our elderly, contact Cary Johnson, District Attorney office at csjohnso@jeffco.us or (303) 271-6970.
Pride MonthAlong with many other counties and communities, Jefferson County recognizes June as Pride Month. The month is meant to recognize the sweeping impact that LGBT individuals, advocates and allies have on history in the United States and around the globe. June was chosen to commemorate the riots held by members of the LGBT community against a raid that took place at the Stonewall Inn in New York City in 1969. Even though celebrations, marches and gatherings over the years may look different, it is still about recognizing equality regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, ability, or sexual orientation. By proclaiming June as Pride Month, the commissioners are committed to promoting these principles in our work and right here in our backyard, working collaboratively with our business community, citizens and local jurisdictions, today and every day.Â
