Jefferson County Parks Officials Issue Snow Warning

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — Jefferson County parks officials issued an alert Monday about trail accessibility.

"Please recreate close to home if you are venturing out and expect heavy snow at all parks," the alert read.

"The snow may have stopped falling but the roads and trails will take a long time to be accessible. Our teams will begin plowing trailheads only when it's safe and county services are fully operational."

All Jefferson County government offices were closed Monday and first responders have been busy dealing with cleanup efforts, parks officials said.

"If you plan to hit the trail, you and your vehicle must be self-reliant and prepared for all emergencies," the alert read.

People who visit parks are asked to keep emergency kits on them or in their vehicles, Jeffco parks officials said.

Some parts of Jefferson County received more than 2 feet of snow over the weekend in a historic storm that swept across Colorado.
